The Speakeasy Experience 2025
The Speakeasy Experience Returns to the Edinburgh Fringe – Back by Popular Demand!
Step through the secret door, give the password, and lose yourself in a world of 1920s decadence...
After two consecutive sell-out runs, The Speakeasy Experience is back for another dazzling year at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, brought to you by the award-winning Summerhall Distillery.
Hidden away in the depths of Summerhall, this immersive experience invites guests to slip behind the curtain of time into a hidden bar straight out of the Prohibition era. Once you’ve discovered the concealed Workshop entrance and whispered the secret password, you’ll step into a world of vintage glamour, low-lit intrigue, and smooth jazz.
Inside, the Old Workshop has once again been transformed into a 1920s-style speakeasy, complete with vintage décor, old record jazz ambience, and table-service cocktails crafted with era-inspired flair. Each guest is welcomed with a hand-poured cocktail and treated to an evening of clandestine luxury, curated by the distillers behind Pickering’s Gin.
And it’s not just about the drinks – The Speakeasy Experience offers a taste of history, too. As you sip your libations, you’ll hear the true tales of Prohibition’s bold bootleggers and notorious bars, from the underground haunts of New York to the secret saloons of Chicago.
Marina Capaldi, Business Development Manager for Tours and Events at Summerhall Distillery, says:
"We’re so excited to bring back The Speakeasy Experience for another Fringe. Every year we welcome curious newcomers and returning fans who just can’t get enough of the atmosphere. It’s an immersive escape, a delicious bit of theatre, and a proper night out – all rolled into one."
Whether you're a history lover, a cocktail connoisseur, or just in search of something a little different at this year’s Fringe, The Speakeasy Experience promises an unforgettable night behind the curtain of the 1920s.
Running from the 31st of July to the 25th of August with two shows daily, don't miss out on revisiting the 1920s!
